Tips on bloating during your period!

Bloating during or before your period even starts is a common occurrence for many women and can leave us feeling swollen, sore and uncomfortable. Bloating before or during your period is common due to the changes in hormones progesterone and estrogen. This tends to slow down our digestion.

There are many small things you can do to reduce the bloating and make you feel better.

  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day instead of large meals -Avoid foods that are known to cause gas, such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, onions, and carbonated beverages -Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

  • Exercise regularly to help relieve bloating and improve digestion.

  • Try using natural remedies such as peppermint tea or ginger to help reduce bloating.

  • Avoid or limit processed foods, sugars, and artificial sweeteners.

  • Consider keeping a food diary to help identify which foods may be causing your bloating.

  • Wear looser clothing, tight and compressive gym leggings aren't great when your feeling bloated.

  • Talk to your healthcare provider if your bloating is severe or persistent, as it may be a symptom of an underlying condition that needs medical attention.
